Amidst the hum of Delhi’s energy, your private chauffeur will be waiting to whisk you away to your hotel in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. Today is about acclimatizing. After a smooth check-in, spend the afternoon at your own pace—perhaps enjoying a quiet tea in the hotel gardens or a gentle stroll through the nearby Lodi Gardens to see the 15th-century tombs. We ensure a slow start to allow you to recover from your flight and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Today, we dive into the contrasts of Delhi. We begin in the 17th-century walled city of Old Delhi. You’ll navigate the narrow, sensory-rich lanes of Chandni Chowk by rickshaw—the most authentic way to see the historic silver market and the imposing Red Fort. In the afternoon, the pace shifts as we transition to New Delhi, designed by the British. You’ll visit Humayun’s Tomb, a precursor to the Taj Mahal, and drive past the monumental India Gate. Our guides ensure you avoid the heaviest crowds, allowing for a thoughtful exploration of India’s complex political and colonial history.
A three-hour drive via the express highway brings us to Agra. After a mid-day check-in and a relaxed lunch, we visit the Agra Fort, a massive sandstone fortress that tells the story of the Mughal Empire’s peak power. As the sun begins to set, we cross the river to Mehtab Bagh (the Moonlight Garden) to see the Taj Mahal from across the Yamuna River. It’s a peaceful, less-crowded vantage point that offers a stunning silhouette of the monument as the sky turns to gold.
There is no experience quite like seeing the Taj Mahal at dawn. We arrive early to witness the white marble change from a soft grey to a brilliant glowing white as the sun rises. After returning to the hotel for breakfast, we begin the five-hour drive to Jaipur. Along the way, we stop at Fatehpur Sikri, the ghost city of Emperor Akbar. We reach Jaipur—the "Pink City"—by late afternoon, just in time to see the city lights begin to twinkle against the terracotta-colored walls.
Jaipur is a feast for the eyes. We start at the Amber Fort, perched high on a hill. We prefer to reach the fort via a Jeep climb, offering views of the Maota Lake below. Inside, the Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors) showcases the incredible craftsmanship of the Rajput era. The afternoon is spent at the City Palace and the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), followed by a guided walk through the local artisan markets. Jaipur is world-renowned for its jewelry and block-printed textiles, and we can introduce you to master craftsmen who still use traditional techniques.
A short three-hour drive takes us into the desert to the sacred town of Pushkar. This is one of India’s oldest cities, centered around a holy lake. The vibe here is noticeably slower and more spiritual. You’ll walk along the ghats, observing pilgrims performing ancient rituals, and visit the world’s only temple dedicated to Lord Brahma. As evening falls, the sound of temple bells and chanting fills the air—a truly soulful experience that stays with you long after you leave.
We head south toward Udaipur, a drive of approximately five to six hours. As we move deeper into the Aravalli Hills, the landscape becomes greener and more rugged. Udaipur is often cited as the most romantic city in India, and your arrival at your lakeside hotel will confirm why. The evening is yours to relax on a rooftop terrace, watching the white marble palaces reflect in the still waters of Lake Pichola.
After breakfast, we explore the City Palace, an architectural marvel that took nearly 400 years to complete. We’ll also visit Saheliyon-ki-Bari (the Garden of the Maidens), famous for its marble elephants and fountains. In the late afternoon, we take a private boat ride on Lake Pichola. Seeing the Jag Mandir palace and the Lake Palace from the water at sunset provides a sense of serenity that is the perfect antidote to the bustle of the earlier cities.
Your final full day in Udaipur is kept flexible. You may choose to participate in a traditional Rajasthani cooking class, visit the nearby Bagore Ki Haveli for a folk dance performance, or simply enjoy a slow morning by the pool. Our driver and guide remain at your disposal should you wish to explore the nearby Ranakpur Jain Temples, known for their 1,444 uniquely carved marble pillars.
After a final breakfast overlooking the lake, we provide a private transfer to the Udaipur airport for your flight to Delhi or Mumbai to connect with your international departure. We ensure you arrive with plenty of time for check-in, leaving you with memories of a journey that was as comfortable as it was culturally profound.
